so we had our monthly business meeting at the firehall in our newly completed meeting room which was very nice. and im also happy to say that my buddy far guy has re-joined our crazy crew again for like the 3 time. i would think far guy would have wised up during his first two tours but apparently he’s a glutton for punishment or is just a sicko like the rest of us on the fire dept. he was given his instructions and i think left so-so with it, i know he would rather do it all the time instead of being limited to mostly day time stuff, which is when we need it the most, but he had no problem with the "light duty" part of it which there shouldnt have been any questions on that one.

so with all this brett favre talk going on, i find myself very distressed about the whole deal. this is the guy who led green bay to the super bowl for the first time, since what bart starr’s days? and yes i think he may have made a hasty descision to retire, but i also wonder if the green bay mgt. didnt push the issue a little. now the nfl commissioner re-instated brett, which in my oppinion never should have happened. he should of taking a shot for the sports sake, a legend of bretts status not playing for green bay?? thats like magic johnson and larry bird trading teams in the early 80′s its just not right. there is trade talk rumored between chicago tampa bay and minnesota, the pack swears they will not trade brett to any division rivals, yeah right they wont. now if brett does get traded i think i will boycott this nfl’s season, thats right i will not watch one nfl game (except the super bowl) now if brett goes to minnesota, and they happen to get to the super bowl with brett as there qb i wont watch that either. legends who spend many years leading any sports team shouldnt jump ship, ever! joe montana did it with kansas city, flop. micheal jordan with the wizards joke. jerry rice with oakland waste of time. time and time again its happened and they have the worst year of there entire career, i dont want to see brett go out like that.

well last night we got to put our new airpacks in service last night, if you want to see what grown man christmas looks like you missed your chance last night. there was a bunch of grown men with pocket knives going to town on numerous cardboard boxed full of air packs, bottles, masks and all the accessories it was fun and then when we got them all put together we got to turn them on and play with them for a while. which really i think helped us all, gave us a chance to get used to them a little and it really didnt take the guys very long to figure them out. cant wait to use them, we thought about washing the truck before the chief showed up but didnt.

yesterday we built a kick ass rock wall for a couple of nice people over by dorset, and man it was a little bit warm yesterday. the nights at my house can be long and lacking sleep. the storms that rolled through this morning not only got my attention but woke up both of the twins, so i ended up staying up for an extra hour to make sure they went back to sleep so i lost another hour of sleep which equaled out to almost 3 hrs last night. then we went to the cities for our daughters appointment, yuck! when im tired i get highway hypnosis bad. and caffine doesnt help me at all so i have no help in battling the effects so i just gotta tough it out and stay awake. i cant wait to go to sleep tonight. to bad we have another funeral to go to tomorrow. mark was dealt a hand that he certainly didnt deserve. they didnt come any nicer than he did. i never saw mark in a bad mood and was always willing to talk about whatever. we usually talked about hunting and fishing and if i was going to go shooting at his place in ponsford i would usually stop by and talk to him first when he was home. if he wasnt home he would usually hear me shooting from the farm and him and lyle would jump in marks car and drive to ponsford and we would talk then. he loved to hunt and fish and he also had a soft spot for kids, he will be missed. but like he said im going sit on the dock with my feet in the water and be able to feel it, and i cant wait. positive outlook for a bad situation.

i was told some very sad news, our good friend john racer, lost his wife of over 50yrs alice on saturday. i know john pretty well, we took over his business 10 yrs ago. he spent many years doing what we do now, and to be real honest keeping his last name for our company’s name hasnt hurt our reputation. john is a good friend of our whole crew, and he would stop by our jobs from time to time and "check" on us, make sure we were doing it right. others times he would catch us working on equipment at our shop and we could spend the better part of a morning or afternoon shooting the breeze. i didnt really know  alice but i still feel like i do cause john was always talking about something he did or didnt do and got told about it by alice. john came and visited us on the job this morning and i automatically shut my machine off, and also removed my hard hat. john extended a hand to me and then the big bear hug came out and a tear came to the corners of both our eyes. i told john i was so sorry that he lost alice. in typical john fashion he said its ok, we will just have to do things a little different now. i feel so bad for him, cause he is such a good friend, i hope he continues being john, eventhough i know a piece of him is gone. the funeral is this weekend at the jones pearson funeral home.

since my buddy farguy has inspired me with his fire dept stories, i will share a few tidbits of my own.

we had three calls today as of 2200 hrs, first one was at 0400 diabetic episode. the second which i will elaborate on a little was a two vehicle accident on hwy 34.

we get paged out right at 1200 noon, anywho me and the bigguy, drove to the scene since we were working in osage and i almost fell over when we got there. there was a county sheriff directing traffic. in becker county we cant pay most of our cops to direct traffic, which really is there job not the fire depts. anywho we tended to the patients and got them loaded in the ambulance and as we were leaving i looked at the police vehicle this sheriff was driving and i laughed inside. we got into bigguys pickup and i said well i figured out why that county cop was directing traffic for once. the bigguy looks at me and say do tell, i said cause he is a hubbard county deputy.

anywho, i said i would tell one on jerry so i will. jerry is an animal, strong muscles soft spoken funny som bitch.

we got paged out to the sawmill where he and our fire chief work, jerry was having some chest pain and a little trouble breathing so i went to the mill since its on the way to the fire hall any way. i get there and the chief says why dont you go get the truck so we can hook him up to o2 and the pulse ox, ok i go get the truck and when i get back the bigguy and his dad are at the mill checking on jerry’s condition. i get there with the bag of goodies and jerry sees me coming and he looks at the guys and says if i stop breathing dont let that damn cherokee blow air into my mouth, we all laughed and jerry was fine after they put new batteries in  his pacemaker.

i have a son who is a lot like me. he is a fearless child, he cut his lip on tuesday bad enough to think about a possbile clinic visit and tonight he smacked the counter real good in our kitchen and ended up in the er in town. he is a walking bruise, cut scrape etc. they super glued his head wound tonight. scares me he does he does.

well we made the weekly journey to the cities as we do every tuesday. they told us that the lip repair surgery will get pushed back from the originally set date if aug 18. to what date they are pushing it back to they never said, they just said that orthodontically she isnt ready and wont be ready by the 18th.

we went in today to our family dr, dr b. he is a great dr, i consider him one of the best in town. he did a checkup on aubrey and everything is good, she ended up in the 25% for weight and height. they then gave her a mit full of shots and she cried and cried and then she all of a sudden was fine, so that was good.

i too, got a shot today, my wife bitches at me when i get cut at work cause i havent had a tetnus shot since 1997, when the nurse took us in and mentioned the shots for aubrey i said me too, she looked at me and said really? i said yes, tetnus please, she looked and said ok i will pull your chart. so after aubrey got her 3-4 shots i got one in the shoulder.

its been raining here pretty good starting yesterday afternoon, and today it continued till about 11:00, it was cooler so i liked that, but we needed a little rain, to bad it couldnt just give us a little shot every night starting at 22:00 and ending 30-45min later.

well you can certainly tell the 4th is near, i saw way to many dumbasses driving there vehicles today, i dont get that, why do people always start doing stupid things behind the wheel around holidays?? town was nuts, hwy 34 and 71 were nuts, dorset was beyond nuts. anywho, we had another weekly appointment in the cities at the gillettes and she gained 11oz in a weeks time, she looks like a baby she has cheeks and everything now, she hasnt been sleeping real well lately, not sure why right now, but she eats well so we arent to worried about it. im sipping on a leinenkugel creamy dark right now, and eating some the wifes famous pasta salad which is excellent, to bad we couldnt find a bottle of creamy italian dressing anywhere in town, so we had to use plain italian which its ok but the creamy makes its great.

our addition at our firehall is almost complete, we have been busy with calls lately, im thinking in the neighborhood of 7-8 calls in the last 10 days?? our new air packs supposedly shipped out to us on tuesday, hope we have them before our meeting on wednesday night.

we spent the week demo-ing a house, a very nice lake home, and while it was a welcome change it was very time consuming, and we had long days all week, glad thats done, and i told the tall guy he doesnt get anymore vacations ever again.

to continue on with my dislikes of the state, i thought of some more stuff i hate.

bees,wasps hornets etc, i really hate these, im allegeric to them and it seems like every where i go we find a nest of them.

tourists, are you kidding me?? why in the world is town so busy during the summer?? i just dont get it, town is a zoo to say the least,other than lakes, i cant really see what people from iowa and illinois  really like about here.

deer season, the deer season here for rifles is to short, it needs to be 3wks long not 10 days, people always bitch that to many deer get hit by cars around here, well if they had more than 3 days to hunt, cause face it, most of us are working during the week and only get to hunt after work and on the weekends, extend the damn season out and see what happens.

highway patrol, who the hell picked the color for their squad cars??? maroon?? come one, thats so dumb you can spot them a mile away cause not to many people are willing to purchase such an ugly color.
